# Research reports (PDF)

Turn a workspace into a formatted PDF research report with your own title, name and logo, ready to hand to a client or family member.

A research report is a formatted PDF of one workspace: a cover page, table of contents, person summaries, family group sheets, a timeline, places, and source citations with their transcriptions and translations. It carries your title, your name and your logo, and no KleioBase branding, so you can send it to a client as your own work product.

Research reports are available on the **Professional** plan.

## Creating a report

1. Switch to the [workspace](/docs/workspaces) you want to report on. A report only ever includes the workspace it was created in.
2. Go to Settings > Import / Export and choose **Configure** on the Research Report (PDF) card.
3. Set up the report: page size (Letter or A4), font style, title, and optionally your name, a page footer, a dedication and a logo (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 500 KB).
4. Choose who to include. You can narrow the report by surname, birth place, or birth and death years, or include only people with at least one record.
5. Pick your chapters and drag them into the order you want. Each chapter has its own settings, such as how people are sorted or whether source transcriptions are included.
6. Choose **Generate report**.

The report is built in the background. We email you a download link when it is ready, and it also appears on the Import / Export page. The link expires after 7 days; generate the report again if you need it later.

## Living people

The setup step has a **Redact living people** checkbox, off by default. It follows the same rules as GEDCOM export: see [Redacting living people](/docs/importing-and-exporting#redacting-living-people). Record transcriptions are not redacted, so check the Sources chapter before sharing a report outside your household.
